What is Trade for Print? (TFP)
Trade for Print (TFP) is an exchange between a model and photographer, where both the model and the photographer receive image content without any money being exchanged.
For the photographer they receive experience, the ability to expand their content, and explore photographic ideas.
For the model they receive guidance in posing and professional content that they are able to use in any way they choose without limitation.
What can I expect?
In a TFP photoshoot, the photographer and model come up with a theme for the shoot that they both aim to benefit from. A location, outfits and accessories are decided upon that align with the shoots theme.
On location the model is responsible for their own looks, which includes the application of makeup and dressing. This will always be done in a modest capacity.
Guidance in posing and positioning is offered by the photographer, with the shoot lasting on average 2-3 hours.
What do I need to bring?
- Clothing - Looks and styles will have been organised prior to the photoshoot.
- Makeup and Accessories if applicable
- Food and Water if applicable (location dependent)
- Model Release Waiver - if not previously supplied
- Assistant - You are very welcome to bring an assistant
What do I receive at the end of the photoshoot?
At the end of the photoshoot you will have the opportunity to review your photos.
The photographer will supply you with a minimum of 15 edited and retouched photos, as well as the balance of photos in an un-retouched state.
Photos are supplied to models via the Fingerprint Photography website for download.
Please note: editing generally takes at least a week.
TFP Photoshoot Details
How long does it take?
The photoshoot that we choose together will be a two-stage process. Firstly we’ll arrive at our location and spend between 1-3 hours setting up, taking the shots and reviewing them afterwards. You will have the opportunity to choose 10 photos that you want edited, and you can also request all of the remaining photos, however these will be unedited.
Secondly will be the editing process. This will generally take a minimum of 7 days from the conclusion of the photoshoot. Fingerprint Photography guarantees that all 10 photos that you select will be edited and provided to you in digital form, irrespective as to whether Fingerprint Photography actually uses your photos in it’s portfolio.
What do you need to bring?
The theme that we’ve discussed together will involve you supplying clothing, dress accessories (E.g. hats, jewellery, scarves etc.), footwear etc. It would be preferable to choose at least 2-3 outfits, ensuring that your portfolio is evenly spread. Food, water should also be brought along for outdoor photoshoots. You should also consider bringing a friend or relative as an assistant.
If our photoshoot is outdoors, then changing outfits modestly will need to be considered. For females it is preferable that you wear a plain white or plain black bikini or swimmers beneath your clothing.
Are there any Limitations?
TFP Modelling Photoshoots do not include any nudity or boudoir.
Do you need to sign a model release?
Yes, you will be required to sign a model release. The model release permits Fingerprint Photography to use the photos in our portfolio, on social media, this website and external websites. The model release also permits you to use your photos in any manner you choose without any limitation.
Can both males and females apply?
Yes, TFP photoshoots are open to both male and female model.
Is there a minimum age?
Yes, the minimum age for all models is 18. You will be asked to confirm this on your model release form.
